Ecount Appoints Mark Harrington to Senior Vice President of Marketing

Half.com co-founder to help drive the company to a new level of excellence

Conshohocken, PA, September 9, 2004 - Ecount, the leading provider of innovative electronic payment solutions, today announced the appointment of Mark Harrington, a co-founder of Half.com, to Senior Vice President of Marketing. The new position will leverage Harrington's vast experience in marketing, strategic positioning, branding and distribution to spearhead all of Ecount's corporate and consumer marketing initiatives.

"Mark will be a remarkable addition to the Ecount team," says Matt Gillin, CEO of Ecount. "His marketing expertise has allowed him great success, and we look forward to the support that he will be able to offer Ecount as we continue to grow our business."

During his five-year tenure with Half.com, Harrington was instrumental in the explosive growth of the company, which led to an eBay acquisition in July 2000 for over $300 million. There he built and directed both the Retention Marketing and Direct Marketing departments. As the company's youngest management team member, he was the visionary and driving force behind many of the company's marketing efforts, which ranged from strategic branding and market development to the deployment of direct marketing campaigns and the building of the company's renowned textbook business, which drove Half.com to profitability and earned him eBay's Out of this World Award. He was even on the team that renamed Half.com, Oregon, making it the first 'dot com city' in America.

Prior to Half.com, Harrington was with Infonautics, a pioneering online information company. There he marketed eLibrary, one of the Internet's top education sites, Encyclopedia.com, the first free online encyclopedia and co-founded Company Sleuth (a PC Magazine Top 100 site), Sports Sleuth (a Yahoo! Internet Life Top 50 site) and Job Sleuth.

Harrington received his Bachelors of Science in Marketing from The Pennsylvania State University and resides in Willow Grove, PA.
